MRSA Fact Sheet
This MRSA fact sheet is built from the most recent information found on the web February 6th 2010. MRSA stands for methicillin or multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It is resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, including methicillin, dicloxacillin, nafcillin, and oxacillin. Adverse drug reactions
Common adverse drug reactions for the β-lactam antibiotics include diarrhea, nausea, rash, urticaria, superinfection (including candidiasis) This Superinfection according to Dorland's illustrated medical dictionary, is a condition produced by sudden growth of a type of bacteria, different from the original offenders in a wound or lesion under treatment. This needs to be looked at more closely. An infection following a previous infection, especially when caused by microorganisms that are resistant or have become resistant to the antibiotics used earlier. Here we have MRSA! What is MRSA? This bacteria is a pathogen that causes infection in people and animals and though not talked about on CNN it killed more people last year globally than AIDS. Now they have found that the death rate for MRSA infected patients dying in the hospital has dropped, but the rate of death for patients being released and dying at home has raised 18%. So all the hospital has done is send people home and let them contaminate their community before they die. It is very sad that this is taking place. Please check back, as I will be updating this
MRSA fact sheet and contact me with any info you may have.
and I will add it here along with your name if you like.
MRSA SUPERBUG Update
Where did this bacteria come from?
The superbug came from a community strain of MRSA that was brought into the Hospital by the public and it was introduced to antibiotics and became resistant to them. This relative new strain of MRSA is showing up all over America and it colonizes on different areas of the body, armpits, feet and the groin area. It is worrying the health care industry and there is talk about trying to come up with a vaccine to help stop the spread of this very dangerous resistant bacteria.
